Key milestones for EssentialSkillz


  • Scilearrai Teo was founded in September 2001 by Tony Dervan who had previously worked on several multi-million dollar e-learning titles for Microsoft Interactive Press in Seattle.

  • Scilearrai Teo produced a portfolio of CD-ROM guides including: Microsoft Press Interactive, European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL), ProductSet 2 Go (Sales), Occupational First Aid, and Health & Safety.

  • Scilearrai Teo developed RiskWize, a Propety Management Tool, for the S2 Partnership. RiskWize customers include such organisations as Johnson and Johnson, Hermes, Convergys, HM Treasury ...

  • Scilearrai Teo identified Health & Safety compliance as a niche area for e-learning growth and spent 12 months developing a range of titles that were supported by a Learning Management System, called O-LAS (Online Learning & Assessment System).

  • Scilearrai Teo was re-named EssentialSkillz in 2003.
  • EssentialSkillz launched its Health & Safety compliance solutions at the IOSH Conference in the UK April 2003 and secured Boston Scientific as its first customer.

  • In the following months EssentialSkillz compliance solutions (primarily DSE) were adopted by some of the world’s leading organisations including Rolls-Royce plc, Heineken, Xilinx, APC, and Allied Domecq.

  • The EssentialSkillz range of e-learning titles were licensed by learndirect in Scotland and FÁS eCollege in Ireland for distribution through their vast learning centre network.

  • EssentialSkillz Display Screen Equipment (DSE) training and risk assessment solution, Workstation Essentials, was awarded the Minister’s Award by the Health & Safety Authority in Ireland.

  • EssentialSkillz Health & Safety compliance solutions are now used by customers across Ireland, the UK, continental Europe, the USA and Australia. A selection of our clients can be seen in the Customer List.
