What can I customise in O-LAS?

O-LAS was designed to allow organisations to manage their online training account independently of EssentialSkillz. The standard customisable features are as follows:

  • Adding your logo to the top of each page in O-LAS
  • Content for enrolment and reminder emails
  • Adding general Health & Safety contact details to the Help bar
  • Customisable course screens (eg.: training site on fire safety)
  • Create additional administrator access
  • Fully customise all of the generic Risk Assessments
  • Create you own online Risk Assessments
How do I set up O-LAS?

The system can be left blank and users can self register as and when they are required to access the training and risk assessment packages. Alternatively, O-LAS can be pre-populated with user information in advance. Employee information must be provided in the form of an Excel spreadsheet or CSV file and contain all the data fields that you require for administration e.g location, department etc. This data is then imported into the system.

Is pre-population better than self registration?

Pre-population is the prefered option due to all the advantages of loading user information into the system up front. Benefits include:

  • tracking of those who have not started training courses or risk assessments
  • use of automated email introductions and reminders
How do I keep user information up to date?

Obviously once the system has been set up, people will move internally or leave and new starters will join. User data can be kept up to date manually or further data imports can be implemented on an on going basis to ensure the system contains current and relevant data. This could be done monthly or quarterly depending on the level of staff turnover and office moves.

How do I check that employees have completed training and risk assessments?

O-LAS provides a full breakdown of employees who are enrolled on a course or risk assessment and whether they have completed, part completed or not yet attempted that particular module. All training courses contain an exit test. Scores are recorded and risk assessments may only be completed if a training course has been passed.

How do administrators prioritise risk?

The software grades risk assessment responses high, medium or low depending on the severity of risk indicated by the option chosen by the individual. This information is collected within O-LAS and sorted accordingly. System administrators are quickly and easily able to identify priority cases showing high level risk and intervene where necessary.

How do I check that risks have been followed up?

If no action is taken, risks will remain outstanding on the system. O-LAS contains a facility to record and manage any control measures implemented in order to resolve concerns. These can be viewed and tracked also.

Is O-LAS compatible with third party content?

Yes it is. Supplement the EssentialSkillz course portfolio with third party online courses to cater for all of your Health & Safety training requirements.

My organisation already has a Learning Management System but it cannot track risk assessment data. Can it be integrated with O-LAS?

Many organisations have a Learning Management System (LMS) in place as they want one central repository for all online training course data. However, these systems are not geared up to the particular complexities of managing Health & Safety risk assessment information. O-LAS can be implemented alongside and integrated with these systems.

Through integration an organisation is able to store Health & Safety training data in its primary LMS alongside all other training records. O-LAS is then used to identify, manage and resolve concerns arising from risk assessments.
