The COSHH Hazardous Substances course uses case studies of people learning how to control hazardous substance exposure in their workplace. Through these case studies, learners will understand the importance of safety measures and the risks of failing to implement them. This course will teach you:
- How to use information from labels, pictograms and safety data sheets to identify and understand hazards
- How to work through the hierarchy of risk control, eliminating and reducing risk from hazardous substances where practicable.
- The role that PPE plays in managing residual hazards is explained.
The course has an increased focus on carcinogens, including silica dust and diesel fumes. These have been the focus of the IOSH (the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) ‘No time to lose’ campaign.
Like all EssentialSkillz courses, this Hazardous Substances eLearning course can be customised to meet your needs, enabling your workforce to understand the specific policies and procedures developed for your organisation. A designated course administrator can edit the text and images within the course, and link to organisation-specific documentation, eg the organisation’s hazardous substances inventory, and local arrangements for storage and PPE, all at no extra cost.
