The EssentialSkillz Evacuation Awareness eLearning course is designed to provide information on evacuation procedures during fires, and for other emergencies such as terrorist attacks.
It is important to plan for a wide range of emergencies, as those who prepare and practise emergency drills are more likely to survive if the worst happens. The course discusses what steps everyone should take when a fire alarm goes off, and also what to do if a fire is discovered. Everyone should be familiar with how to raise an alarm and the process of evacuating safely.
The course also provides advice on how to assist disabled and injured people during an evacuation. A disabled person might have a designated buddy to help, but it is important for other people to understand how to help people in need safely evacuate.
Evacuations for a security threat might be different from an evacuation for a fire. There might be a silent evacuation or you might be in a situation where you can’t escape. The course describes what to do in the event of a security threat such as a terrorist attack, and details how to follow the Run, Hide, Tell model in order to keep yourself safe.
Like all EssentialSkillz courses, this Evacuation Awareness eLearning course can be customised to meet your needs, enabling your workforce to understand the specific policies and procedures developed for your organisation. For example, you can add in details of assembly area locations, information on how to contact a fire warden, or a link to the local process for planning for the evacuation of people with additional needs (sometimes known as PEEP – Personal Evacuation Awareness Plan).
