With the development of communication channels, the global search for talent, the growth of contingent workers and the premium of office space, working remotely has become more and more common in recent years. Homeworking is used to describe employees that have a contractual or voluntary arrangement with their employer so that they are able to work in locations other than the office.  Both employers and staff working remotely should be aware that health and safety regulations, as well as organisation policies, are applicable in the home working environment.

The EssentialSkillz Home Working Online Training Course has been designed to help both employers and their workers to understand what is required of them in a home working situation. The course explains different categories of home working, who might be eligible and specific conditions that relate to home working, including insurance requirements, the supply of equipment and ensuring the security of data, particularly any data that includes personal information.

A key element of the course explains the importance of applying health and safety procedures to the home workplace, including identifying and controlling risks, assessing workstations and ensuring the health and wellbeing of the home worker. The Home Working course also outlines procedures for holidays, absence and sickness.

Like other EssentialSkillz courses, the Working from Home course can be customised to meet the requirements of your organisation. This means that your employees can understand your specific policies and procedures relating to home working, rather than drawing on generic examples. At no additional cost, a designated course administrator can use the integrated authoring tool to edit the text and images within the course, and link to organisation-specific documentation.

Main Sections within the course:

  • Home Working Overview
  • Home Arrangements
  • Workplace Hazards
  • Final Test
