Hybrid working is a flexible working arrangement that allows people to combine the benefits, and minimise the challenges, of both on-site and remote working. The Hybrid Working eLearning course is designed to highlight the benefits and challenges of this style of working, and help employees learn best practices that will promote their health, safety and wellbeing.
The course describes some different hybrid working patterns employees can adopt depending on their personal needs, work tasks and organisational requirements. It includes how to get started with hybrid working, or make adjustments to their work pattern.
Employees need to understand how to set up their workstations in different locations. Some people might only need to set up their workstations once if they have a designated workstation at home and on-site that only they use. Other people might need to make regular adjustments before each use. For example, people who share a workstation (also known as hotdesking), or people who have to take their equipment with them between locations (eg keyboard, mouse, laptop). The second lesson describes how to set up a workstation in various situations. Knowing how to set up their workstation properly will reduce stress levels and discomfort for staff.
Moving equipment between locations can pose security risks for work equipment and organisational data. The course describes steps employees can take to protect work equipment and keep data secure in line with the organisation’s data and cyber security measures.
The last lesson of the course describes how hybrid workers can best communicate, collaborate and build relationships with colleagues despite not always being together or working at the same time. It covers how you can:
- have effective and inclusive hybrid meetings
- boost productivity
- adopt healthy habits to take care of your health and wellbeing
- prevent, reduce and manage work-related stress from hybrid working
This course has an accompanying self assessment for employees to take if they have or will have a hybrid working arrangement. This assessment complements your organisation’s hybrid working policy by helping to identify and assess hybrid working issues. Find out more about our risk assessment tool.
