Westminster Magistrates’ Court has fined two companies after dangerous asbestos material was disturbed during a conversion project in Romford, London during the summer of 2014.
An investigation by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has revealed that a man from County Durham failed to carry out an asbestos survey before engaging in a garage conversion in a residential area.
Stevenage Magistrates’ Court has fined a St Albans cinema director £11,660 and ordered to pay £7,000 in costs after pleading guilty to breaching Section 3 of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and to breaching Regulation 5 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006 and Regulation 16 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012.
Trafford Magistrates’ Court has fined a self employed Gas Safe Registered Heating Engineer £5000 with £3000 costs after pleading guilty to Section 3(2) of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
