Are E-learning courses compatible with your LMS? What does SCORM compliant mean?…EssentialSkillz, global provider of online safety training and risk assessment software, are pleased to announce our complete library of Health and Safety and HR E-Learning courses are SCORM 1.2 compliant. Therefore any organisation with a SCORM compliant LMS (Learning Management System) has the ability to run EssentialSkillz class-leading software, editable course content and related modules on their own system.
Nowadays more and more business is taking place online. People watch movies, listen to music, read books and do their shopping through the virtual sphere that is the internet. Training and education is also being delivered online and the trend is gaining popularity as a result of its efficiency, convenience and reliability. SCORM (Shareable Content Object Reference Model) is the technical standard or specification that governs how online training is created and delivered to learners, it is a stamp of authority that no reputable e-learning course should be without.
E-learning requires two essential software components, the content itself and the Learning Management System used to deliver the content, track the learner’s progress and report on their results. EssentialSkillz pride ourselves on our course content which is reviewed regularly to ensure it reflects current legislation and best practice. Our course content is completely customisable to include any company specific information and policies as required.
But what of the LMS component in E-learning? EssentialSkillz provide our own LMS known as O-LAS, a powerful and versatile learning Management System that provides extensive reporting functionality for any type of E-Learning programme; enabling organisations to rapidly implement online training initiatives specific to their learning requirements. However EssentialSkillz also understand that a lot of organisations have a pre-existing LMS in place that staff are trained in and comfortable using and therefore we have made our course content fully compatible with any SCORM compliant LMS. If a customer decides against taking the option of going with the EssentialSkillz O-LAS LMS, they can be assured that EssentialSKillz range of E-learning solutions conform with SCORM specifications and will function perfectly with any SCORM compliant LMS.
EssentialSkillz have tested their courses extensively on a range of industry-leading LMS platforms so we are fully confident we can provide our customers with our acclaimed selection of E-learning safety training ready to plug in and work seamlessly in the customer’s LMS environment. EssentialSkillz commitment to making our course content fully editable is a feature that appeals to many customers and we have endeavoured to make that process as simple as possible. The editing process is also free of charge and forms part of EssentialSkillz comprehensive customer service once a subscription is taken out. So how does it work?
- The customer is given access to an easy to use online editor
- Images, text, links and videos can all be modified, added or deleted from the course content
- Once the customer is satisfied with the edits to the course content, EssentialSkillz create the SCORM file for the customer to upload the end product to their LMS
EssentialSkillz also provide a highly configurable on-line employee risk assessment module called O-LAS Assess that enables organisations to quickly carry out assessments on large numbers of employees. This module can be accommodated on any SCORM compliant LMS meaning that the customer’s LMS can run the O-LAS Assess platform from their own system. They can then take advantage of the various tools and reports contained in O-LAS Assess to analyze and manage risk in their workplace.
Julian Roberts, Managing Director at EssentialSkillz commented:
“Our customers are very important to us at EssentialSkillz and through many years of providing online safety training we have learnt that flexibility and adaptability are vitally important to them. Every business is different and thus they’ll sometimes have slightly different safety requirements. They want the freedom to modify and edit course content wherever necessary and to be able to do that as quickly and easily as possible. By making all our courses SCORM compliant so our customers can use the software on their own systems, as well as affording them the opportunity to edit that content and add a risk assessment module, we believe that here at EssentialSkillz we offer a level of integration between our software and the customer’s LMS that is unrivalled in the industry.”
