West Country legends The Wurzels have reworked their classic hit ‘Combine Harvester’ to raise awareness of safety in the farming industry.
Teaming up with the Farm Safety Foundation, the rural folk band aim to encourage the farming community to create a safer and more professional working environment.
Farming remains the UK’s most dangerous occupation. The latest statistics produced by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) show 27 people died in farm accidents in the year to April 2014.
Contributing factors include working with high powered machinery, livestock, long hours and poor weather conditions.
The modern reworking of the Wurzels 1974 hit attempts to bring home the serious nature of farm safety in a light hearted manner.
They have re-recorded the song with new lyrics and appear in a video produced by students at Moreton Morrell College.
