Following a Health and Safety Executive (HSE) investigation into how a lorry driver died at the Seaforth Dock in Liverpool, Liverpool Crown Court has fined an animal feed company £600,000 and ordered them to pay costs of £20095.10
The firm admitted to breaching Section 3(1) of the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974. This section of the act relates to the protection of non-employees.
The court heard that the worker was buried under a pile of soya meal and died of his injuries. The incident occurred in September 2012 and worker was 64 years old.
